A wig cap can help keep hair in place. But the wrong fit can rub or pull at your edges. Use this simple routine to protect your hairline and keep the cap comfortable.
Start with a clean, comfortable hairline
Remove old gel, makeup, and other surface residue before you put on the cap. If wig adhesive is still present, soften it with the correct adhesive remover and follow its label. Do not scrape the skin.
Choose the right fit
The cap should lie flat without causing pain, numbness, or a deep mark. When your style allows, place the band just behind the finest edge hairs.
Smooth the hair with your hands or a soft tool. Avoid pulling the hairline tight.
Check three pressure points
- In front of each ear
- Across the temples
- At the nape
If one area stings, burns, or feels numb, remove the cap and adjust the fit.
Keep product layers light
Oil, gel, makeup, and glue can collect near the cap line. Use only what your style needs. Adding more product can make cleanup harder.
Remove the cap slowly
Lift the cap instead of dragging it across the hairline. If it sticks, stop and loosen the area before pulling again.
Check your edges after wear
Look at the temples, ears, and nape. Give the area a break if it feels sore. Do not reinstall over broken or badly irritated skin.
For cleanup help, read how to remove wig adhesive without scrubbing. If your temples look thinner, use this gentler hairline routine.
Clean the surface before your next install
EXTRACT™ Foundation Reset™ helps wash away oil, sweat, and hair-product buildup. It is not an adhesive remover. Remove wig glue with the correct remover first, then use EXTRACT™ as directed.
Stop using a product if it causes burning or worsening irritation. Speak with a licensed professional about symptoms that last or get worse.
